Facilitation
Group Facilitation
A group of people, coordinated and working in synch can accomplish amazing outcomes. Working with groups, boards and teams, The Neutral Zone assists in improving group functioning and clarifying ideas. Our facilitators provide assistance in:
the development of organizational policies and procedures;
group analyses of current situations and strategic planning;
exciting, fun and productive team-building retreats, team days and meetings;
committee work on contentious human resources and labour relations issues;
community consultations on sensitive and complex issues;
senior decision-making on complex interpersonal staff conflicts;
resolving entrenched multi-issue, multi-stakeholder conflicts and improving communication and productivity.
Facilitation provides a forum for groups to problem-solve challenges. Our facilitators are specially trained and skilled in strategies to identify key issues and interests, summarize different perspectives, clarify goals and resources and to generate effective options to enable groups to take the leap to higher functioning and success.
Typically, a facilitator will consult with key roles first to clarify the scope of the facilitation. The facilitator will then coordinate, develop and implement a group process with high buy-in and tangible results.
Contact us for a no-obligation discussion of options for assisting your group.
Team-building
Unlike flaky exercises where the lights are turned out while we feel each other’s faces or stand on tables and fall into each other’s arms, The Neutral Zone’s team-building activities are practical, experiential, discovery-learning based and not uncomfortable. From styles exercises to group problem-solving to our Team-building X-treme program that takes teams to cooking schools, on sailing charters and Sumo Wrestling to name a few. Fun and always directly linked to concepts that help people work more effectively as a team, our team-building programs range from mild-to-wild. Examples of team-building activities include:
Working Styles quiz and debrief which helps participants identify their and their colleagues dominant working style of four types;
Myers-Briggs Personality Inventory exercise with our certified MB facilitators gives deep insights into the 16 different personalities;
Case-study based discussion and problem-solving;
Paper-based challenges were teams compete against the clock and each other to solve problems collectively;
Creative team competitions of having to create structures out of materials, problem-solving as a group and discussing what worked and how;
Less active team activities that are fun and interesting on a personal level such as taking a cooking class or wine appreciation class together with debriefing discussion of applicable learnings;
More active team activities in our extreme team-building program like bowling, sailing, hiking, taking a “zip-line” or donning Sumo costumes and wrestling it out in the ring for teams whose primary objectives are to have fun and exercise;
Corporate retreats for 3 to 20 individuals where facilitated discussion and activities take place in exceptional locations like a luxury heritage house downtown, a gorgeous cottage at Cultus Lake or out for a day sail aboard a 45 foot Jeanneau Sun Odyssey

"You brought together a group that had lost sight of its purpose.  We left our retreat with renewed enthusiasm and understanding of our roles.  Well-facilitated, lots of humour, stayed on track and achieved a positive outcome."

- Patricia Stevens, President’s Office, University of British Columbia
